Creating customer emails [NB]

You can create and manage the emails, such as order confirmations and invoices, that are automatically sent to customers about changes in their order status or account data.

Note: To disable automatic emails, leave all fields blank. For more information, see  Disabling automatic emails.

To create customer emails

  1. On the left menu of the Back Office click Settings and from Website Settings choose Notification Emails.
  2. Click an email type to edit it.

Note: Be sure to add any keys required to automatically send the email.

Note: Content Templates are not included in each package by default. If your package does not contain them, you can contact Lightspeed Support. Use Content Templates only if you have HTML and CSS knowledge.  

About the types of emails

Customer approved Sent after approval of a customer's registration with your online store.  
Invoice footer Text at the bottom of an invoice.  
Newsletter double opt-in Asks customers to confirm that they want to receive the newsletter. Requires the [[confirm_url]] key to confirm the subscription.
Notify customer Notifies customers through email customer in the order dashboard.

Requires the [[message]] key, which substitutes your message text.

You can optionally add the [[firstname]] key to personalize the salutation.

Order cancelled + credit note Sends customers an email with a credit note when they cancel an order. You can optionally include the reason for cancellation.  
Order confirmation Sends customers a thank you for their order.  
Order Invoice Sends customers an invoice if you manually create it in the Back Office, or resend it to the customer. When the invoice is set to immediately or when paid, it s attached to the order confirmation email.  
Order paid Sends a confirmation for payment receipt.  
Order payment reminder You can send a payment reminder by clicking Send payment reminder in the order dashboard. You can manage the content of this email here.  
Order sent Sends shipping confirmation.  
Order track and trace code Sends the shipment track and trace code. [[orderid]] - [[ttcode]]
Account confirmation Sends customers login credentials and thanks them for registering. Use [[email]] to display user name
Contact message confirmation Notifies customers of receipt of their contact request and your swift response.  
Account password Sent when customers report having forgotten their password. The [[email]] and[[reset_password]] keys are used to send the user name and a reset link for the password
Ticket answered Through their account, customers can ask you a question. When you have answered it, they will receive this e-mail saying they can read the answer through their account in your online store.  


A key is a variable that you can use to personalize your emails. The key adds customer data.

[[message]] The message you have entered in your order dashboard - This key is replaced by the text that you write if you use the Notify customer button to send a message to your customers. This button will reappear in several locations, such as at the right at the bottom in the order dashboard. You can use this key only in the Notify customer email message. Notify customer (required)

[[price]] Price of products for which a return shipment is configured. For example, if two products of $10 each are concerned, this key is replaced by “$20”. Return status
[[products]] Number of products for which a return shipment is configured. If a return shipment is configured for two products, this key will be replaced by “2”. Return status
[[reason]] Reason for return shipment. It can be a new one, or a previously defined standard reason. Return status
[[shipmentid]] Shipment ID Order shipped
[[status]] The return status, which can consist of several statuses, such as "In process”. Return status (required)
[[ttcode]] The tracking & trace code Order tracking & trace code (required)
[[zipcode]] Customer's postal code Order shipped
